Daylight Saving Time
During the last weekend of October, we set back our clocks one hour, meaning that Sunday 3am becomes Sunday 2am. The pros and cons of Daylight Saving Time (DST) havebeen discussed for many years now: Do we really save energy? Does it affect wildlife’s andhumans’ biological clock? Does it improve road safety? Does it benefit evening time leisureactivities, etc.
During the summer of 2018, The European Commission conducted a survey and asked EUresidents whether DST should be abolished or not. Over 4.6 million persons responded andmore than 80% wishes to abolish DST. Following the survey, The European Commission proposes that each EUmember state from autumn next year should be able to decide whether to keep DST or not, but also if the countrywants to keep permanent summer time or permanent winter time.
